Smothered Cube Steak

Cooked this tonight for dinner and it was a big hit.

Smothered Cube Steak

Ingredients

4-6 pieces cube steak
2 tsp seasoned meat tenderizer
2 tsp black pepper
1 c flour
2 c brewed coffee
3 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
4 c water
1 cup oil/grease for frying

Preparation

On medium to low heat warm oil in a deep frying pan on stove. Put meat tenderizer and pepper on steaks. Dredge the steaks in flour and fry until brown on both sides. Remove steaks from grease. Pour up excess grease (a small amount is fine but you don't want more than about 2 Tbsp). Pour coffee, Worcestershire, and 3 cups of water into frying pan. Combine about 3 Tbsp of flour with left over 1 cup water. Mix well. Combine the flour mixture with the broth liquid in frying pan and stir to combine. Add steaks back to pan. Simmer on low until steaks begin to fall apart. Serve hot with rice or mashed potatoes.
